I had a lovely day out on Sunday with my friend Nopa, a fellow band spouse who has been a most excellent partner in crime over this last year as we discovered new restaurants and interesting sights around Seoul. She’s moving away this week, so this was our last outing together for the foreseeable future. We made a fun day of it and started with lunch at Bao Bar, a fabulous new restaurant in Itaewon.
Bao Bar is still in its soft opening, so it only has these two bao buns available right now, but they were both incredibly delicious.
Next, we hopped on the subway and went to Seoul Grand Park to enjoy the beautiful weather and blooming flowers.
There was some sort of “Music in the Park” festival going on, and there were decorated pianos all along the walkways.
We exited the park halfway between two subway stations, so we decided to walk up to the Seoul Racecourse Park station, which had charming horse decorations.
We ended our day photographing the gorgeous cherry blossoms on the military base (they’re going to get their own post), with a quick stop for churros first.
Military life means that you’re always saying good-bye to great friends, but it also gives you the opportunity to meet those friends in the first place.
