Rome Part Two

On Sunday, Domingos, Dirk, Tracy, and I got up early again – though not quite as early as Saturday – to get to the Colosseum right when it first opened. Again, this was a great choice, as we were there before it got really crowded and before the heat of the day bore down. We rented audio guides and wandered around, marveling at the history and size of the building. The restoration work is truly remarkable.

After leaving the Colosseum, we wandered over to the Forum, but didn’t linger since we were all experiencing some monument and ruin fatigue. We decided to walk to the Villa Borghese Park via the Spanish Steps and get Mom and Dad to meet us there for lunch. Well, we ended up walking all over the beautiful park, but didn’t get lunch until we went back to the hotel later that afternoon. We were all pretty wiped out at that point – the four of us walked about 8 miles, according to my iPhone Health app!
