Lame. That is me. I don’t feel like doing a Music Monday, or a Flashback Friday. I feel uninspired and boring now that my fabulous India trip is over! So there may not be too much here until January, when I vow to be renewed, re-energized, re-optimized, and ready to be sparkling and interesting. Or at least to give it my best effort!
So, I started out kind of grumpy this morning, due to falling asleep totally exhausted at 12:30am and waking up, still exhausted but unable to fall back asleep, at 4:30am. Boo hiss. What is wrong with me? I slept great while in Savannah over the weekend. I think I was going over my long to-do list in my head and feeling stressed out about crossing everything off before we leave for the northeast on Friday. But now I’m in a good mood, because my amazing massage therapist, Rob at Aremel Massage Therapy, gave me an extra 15 minutes today free of charge! He is the best, and I was in dire need of his skills after a weekend of gigging and driving. I’m also in a good mood because I have been knocking items off my to-do list. Don’t get me wrong, there’s still lots to do, but at least it’s a more manageable list now.
Last weekend saw my last gigs of 2012. It was a pretty good year, with six trips to Savannah, three to Hilton Head, and a few other things here and in DC. The driving can be wearing, but I really like being a regular member of my down-south symphonies, not just subbing here, there, and everywhere. I’ll miss the symphonies, and especially my friends, next time we PCS somewhere too far for me to drive. But since we have no idea when and where that will be, I won’t worry about it yet!
I think I’m all ready for Christmas. I’m excited about our drive up to Rockland, MA, where Domingos’s mother lives. We’re stopping first in Delaware to stay with Domingos’s uncle and aunt overnight. The next day, we’ll drive to West Point and visit our good friends there. The next day, we’re spending the night at the hotel that’s right next to Gillette Stadium, even though the Patriots are playing out of town that day! Our room overlooks the stadium, and we’ll watch the game at the bar in Patriot Place, as well as visit the Patriots’ Hall of Fame. Finally, on Christmas Eve, we’ll arrive in Rockland and spend several days with D’s mom and aunt. (Well, we’ll actually stay at a hotel in Braintree, but we’ll be spending all of our time with them, except for possibly a quick trip in to Boston one night to have dinner at Mooo).
We don’t have any plans yet for New Year’s Eve. We’ll be back in Virginia Beach, and I imagine I might just cook a fancy dinner with wine pairings for the two of us instead of finding somewhere to go out to. I’ve decided to try a gluten-free diet for the month of January to see if my sinus problems get any better. I’m also going to start taking oil of oregano every day in hopes that I might not catch so many colds.
I’m trying to decide if I want to make any “resolutions” this year. I haven’t been in the habit of doing so for a number of years, but with turning 40 in November, I’ve got some things popping around in my head that I might want to accomplish. We’ll see.
For now, back to the to-do list and a spot of cleaning.
