Last week, I was lucky enough to tag along with the 8th Army Band when they went TDY to Jinhae to participate in the Jinhae Military Tattoo. The tattoo coincides with Jinhae’s annual cherry blossom festival, so there were lots of beautiful sights to take in. We had an early start on Wednesday, and after a long day on the bus we arrived at the stadium in Jinhae. I will post separate entries about the tattoo and the parade the band participated in and just make this blog entry about the cherry blossoms.
While the band worked, my friend Nopa (another band wife) and I climbed up a nearby hill to take advantage of the views on Thursday. Although it was overcast, the climb was well worth it.
On Friday, we visited the Yeojwacheon Stream right in town. The cherry blossoms were definitely near the end of their peak, but it was still beautiful there.
I picked up a cold on the last day, so that was about it for sightseeing. All in all, it was a fantastic trip, and a good opportunity to get to know the musicians in my husband’s band a little better.
