Two Fabulous Restaurants

For our anniversary last weekend, we finally visited a restaurant that has been on my list since I first read about it months ago, The Beastro in Hongdae. We were there on a Sunday night and had no problem getting a table. Our waiter was from South Africa and very attentive and knowledgable. The waiter brought us delicious biscuits with a side compote, and we started out with Moscow mules to drink, which were perfectly blended. If I remember correctly, they make their own ginger beer in house.

We ordered the Southern fried chicken platter and the 24-hour hangar steak with a side of truffle fries to share for our mains, and both were out-of-this-world delicious. The chicken was a boneless breast, but it was still incredibly moist inside. I highly recommend both entrées, and I’m not sure which I’d choose if I had to only have one.

We also ordered more drinks. I had a gimlet, and Domingos had an old-fashioned.

For dessert, we shared the whisky pudding, which had a salty caramel topping and silky smooth pudding.

A couple of nights ago, we finally checked out Linus’ BBQ, a mere 5 minutes from our house. Linus’ does Alabama style barbecue, and it was some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. They also had a very fun menu, here’s an example:

We shared a platter with pulled pork, brisket, 6 slider buns, tangy coleslaw, bacon potato salad, and seasoned fries. It was the perfect amount of food for two people. They also have craft beers on tap. Domingos had one and said it was good. I’m already ready to go back there again!IMG_2192

There was a long line waiting for tables by the time we left; if you go on the weekend, go on the early side!
